DPF Filters
Replacing a DPF filter can be very expensive costing anything from £1000 – £3,500. At Brownlow Radiators we specialise in cleaning DPF filters and Catalytic converters for cars, commercials, buses and heavy plant.
What is a DPF Filter?
Diesel cars manufactured after 2009 are fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) which are designed to reduce the output of soot the exhaust creates by acting as a trap. These need to be cleaned out regularly or replaced. The cleaning process is called regeneration and an orange warning light on your vehicle will normally alert you to the problem.
What causes DPF Filters to become blocked?
One of the main causes are short journeys at low speeds.
Can a DPF be removed?
It is illegal to use a vehicle modified in such a way that it does not comply with standards of European emissions regulations, and it can also invalidate your insurance policy.
Will it fail an MOT?
A missing DPF, where one was fitted when the vehicle was built, will result in an MOT failure.
Our process usually takes 24 hrs and includes stripping the filters, baking in our oven at around 660 degrees overnight, cleaning and rebuilding before returning to the customer.
We know how important the everyday running of vehicles are to people, and to many businesses, and so we aim to have the DPF cleaned and returned by the following day.
